Radio Fox Hunting

The White Rock Lake ARC sponsors Radio Fox Hunting in the area surrounding White Rock Lake, Dallas Texas. Three VHF and one UHF radio transmitters are provided by Dave Catlett, amateur call K5YR, and David Ricker, KG5VSR. These small transmitters are put out for amateur radio operators (hounds) to practice radio direction finding (Fox Hunting) on the east side of Dallas, Texas.

  • Hours: 09:00 Saturday to 17:00 Sunday

  • Fox #2: Bullwinkle, 146.545 Mhz, FM (15mw)
  • Fox #3: Boris Badenov, 146.580 Mhz, FM (15mw)
  • Fox #4: Natasha Fatale, 446.100 Mhz, FM (1w)
  • Signal Cycle: Each fox transmits once every 60 seconds
LOCATIONS WHEN ON THE LOOSE:
  • Always within 1 mile of the shore of White Rock Lake
  • Always on public land (parks, schools, libraries, post offices, dog parks, hiking/bicycle trails, etc.).

NOTE: These radio foxes will typically be located in positions that are not "drive up" and will usually require some hunting by foot.
